CLAT or the Common Law Admission Test is a national level entrance exam conducted by the National Law Universities (NLU) annually. This exam is held every year for admission to various undergraduate and post-graduate courses in NLUs like BA LLB, B.Com LLB and B.Sc LLB.

Let us discuss the CLAT exam in details:

  1. Total of 19 NLUs are the participating institutes in CLAT.

  2. It offers approximately 2400 seats for the undergraduate studies and 650 seats for its postgraduate studies.

  3. The test compromises a total of 200 objective type questions and distinct paper patterns for both undergraduate and graduate admissions.

Exam Syllabus for CLAT:

For LLB (UG Programme):

Sections included are- English, Current Affairs, Mathematics, Logical Reasoning and Legal Aptitude.

For LLM (PG Programme):

Sections included are-Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence and topics like Criminal Law, International Law, IPR, etc.

CLAT Preparation tips:

  1. Go through the syllabus thoroughly and study the concepts in depth.

  2. Keep yourself updated with the day-to-day events to excel in the current affairs section of the exam.

  3. Considering the actual exam time duration, start taking up mock tests for practice purposes.

  4. For the postgraduate exam, brush up the subjects taken up during the graduate studies.
