Credenc amongst the 3 winners in the Wharton India Startup Challenge

Credenc placed amongst 3 winners in the WISC competition against 10 nominated startups selected from a pool of 550 applicants.

This year, the Wharton India Economic Forum (WIEF) hosted the sixth annual instalment of Wharton India Startup Challenge, 2019 in Mumbai. The competition kick-started on August 19 with 550 candidates out of which 20 startups made it through two rounds for 20,000 $ of prize money. The top 10 got to pitch their ideas and business plans on stage to a panel of judges namely Badri Pillapakkam of Omidyar Network; Padmaja Ruparal of India Angel Network; Sakshi Kapoor Chopra of Sequoia; Rajinder Balaraman of Matrix Partners; and Priyank Swaroop of Accel Partners.

For the last few years, Wharton India Economic Forum has been bringing together leaders, professionals, academics and students from all over the world to discuss India’s evolution into a prominent global economic power. The WIEF, a student-run business forum led by Wharton School defines its mission to engage the world's attention on India's enormous potential and the limitless possibilities the country offers.


The competitors lineup included some of the emerging startups - GoComet, Nuo, LifePage, CashPositive, AGROWAVE, Reculta Solutions, My Petrol Pump, Wink & Nod, and ITILITE. Kartik Das, Co-chair of WIEF, on the occasion said, “Apart from WIEF being a thought-provoking event with a series of diverse and innovative talks from senior leaders, entrepreneurs, and business leaders, this year, we are extremely proud to have launched the WIEF podcast series.


The event also included an impressive speaker lineup that included names like Vishal Mahadevia, MD of Warburg Pincus India; Shweta Jalan, MD of Advent International; UBER APAC Head Raj Beri; Deepak Bagla, Former World Bank and CEO of Invest India, Startup India; Richa Chadha, actress; Rajeev Masand; film critic and other industry leaders.
